Ramsey is located in Anoka County and is populated by 18,510 people. In 2007, the population exceeded 23,000 however. In 1850, Ramsey became permanently settled and was organized by 1857, at that time it was named Watertown. By the fall of 1858, the township was renamed in honor of Alexander Ramsey who became the first governor of the Minnesota Territory. (1849-1853) By 1974, the city had become incorporated.
Every year Ramsey holds a county fair with food, music and activities. There are also ways to show off ones talents and gifts by entering an exhibit such as photos, food, clothing, crafts or even carving.
